-
- Do you have an enhanced IIe (65C02 processor) or unenhanced (6502)?
- You can tell by looking at the name displayed at the top of the screen
- when you reboot. An unenhanced IIe displays 'Apple ][', while the
- enhanced IIe displays 'Apple //e'.
-
- There are two SCSI interface cards made by Apple: the original one,
- and the 'High Speed' one. The latter requires a 65C02 processor
- (enhanced IIe, IIc or IIgs), but is quite a lot faster than the
- original card. Apple no longer sell the original SCSI card, so you
- would have to buy a second-hand one. Make sure it has the latest ROM
- ('revision C', which is labelled 341-0437-A.
-
- You can also use one version of the RamFAST SCSI card (I'm not sure
- which one).
-
- You will only be able to use the ProDOS operating system with the SCSI
- hard drive (i.e. you can't use DOS 3.3, Pascal or CP/M, at least, not
- easily).
-
- All the SCSI cards are supplied with software that can test and
- partition the hard drive. No additional software is required - ProDOS
- will automatically recognise the hard drive (once it is formatted) and
- you can use standard ProDOS utility programs to copy files to and from
- the hard drive.
