- Hello. I'm trying to help our chemistry department with what appears
- to be a broken DN10000. The machine is not on maintenance so, before we
- call up HP, we want to explore all possible avenues of help. HELP!
-
- This is a DN10000 with one CPU trying to run Domain OS 10.3.
- What's happened is that the machine wouldn't boot, but would die in
- pg$init with a crash_status of 00270001. I went over to fiddle with
- it and was able to do an ld at the SP prompt and see the disk files as
- well as run EX CONFIG and EX CALENDAR. I ran EX SALVOL with a -v option
- (which said it would not write to the disk) and received some "bad addr"
- messages. SALVOL, however, did not finish and I had to eventually hit
- the reset button.
-
- From that point on, we got a consistent Self Tests Failed, on Memory Test #5
- (slot 7, memory module 0). The message was 'Unexpected SP bus error
- referencing 08000008' and the DN10000 status display has a flashing
- 5.7.2.0. after the error. I tried bypassing our UPS (thinking the power
- supply might be low) and vacuuming out all the dust bunnies (there were a
- lot!). Nothing helped, however, and after powering back up we got the
- same excat message.
-
- Any ideas on what we could try next?
-
- Thanks,
