- Hi world!
-
- The following problem has been bugging me alot, and I'm pissed off!
-
- Say that I have a floppy that is not 100% OK and I save a file
- to it. If it is my bad luck that my Amiga selects a bad sector
- to save at; what happens? I have to press CANCEL several times
- in the system requester and still the file will be corrupt!
-
- It seems that the Amiga tries to save at the sector with the error
- a number of times and then thinks: "Sorry, can't save at that sector,
- lets try to save the NEXT block of the file at the NEXT sector!"
- What I would like is: If an error is found, mark the block as bad
- in the (can't remember the name of the block that tells which sectors
- are used and which are free) and then try to save the block at another
- sector, and NO SYSTERM REQUESTER IS NEEDED!
-
- About the sys.req:s: ARE THEY NEEDED AT ALL?
- Most of them will not take no for an answer, some do nothing when
- I press RETRY, and some programs lock up if you press CANCEL when
- asked to insert a specific volume!
-
- Are you satisfied? I'M NOT!
-
- /Lars
-
- PS. I'm running KS & WB 2.1
