- Set the SCSI ID of the slow-to-spin-up drives _lower_ than the
- fast-to-spin-up drives, and you might be OK. I have two ancient Priam
- ID-130 drives and a (relatively) fast Quantum 52LPS connected to my
- A3000. The Quantum spins up very fast, and is set to SCSI ID 6. The
- Priams spin up very slowly (30-40 S.) and are set to SCSI ID 0 (they
- are connected via an Adaptec converter).
-
- Even thought the Quantum (my boot drive) spins up in a few seconds, the
- A3000 waits until the device on SCSI ID 0 is ready before booting from
- the Quantum. I power up the A3000 and the external Priams at the same
- time. I prefer this method, because I'm not forced to boot from the
- slower drive and I can leave the Priams home if I take my A3000 to a
- friend's house.
-
- Hopefully your GVP host adapter will work the same way. If not, I'm
- glad that the folks that designed the A3000 SCSI put in this extra
- little touch.
