- This is a more clarified version of the post I made to c.s.a.introduction.
-
- I am prospecting the purchase of an A1200 system (my first Amiga). I
- have the official retail specs of the system, but I still have a few
- questions (Amiga tech line has been busy).
-
- The first concerns the optional real-time clock. I am curious where
- this option would be installed. Some say it's a separate PCMCIA card,
- others say there's a built-in socket for it, and still others claim
- it is only available on memory boards. Which is it and how much would
- it cost? (I assume 3.0 will recognize it without funky drivers).
-
- RAM expansion; Specs say 10Meg is supported (I presume this is
- including the 2MB of chip RAM). Does the 1200 unit have SIMM sockets, or
- is an additional memory board required? Again, a price idea would be
- appreciated.
-
- The specs indicate VGA support. Is it possible to plug in a VGA monitor
- directly into the unit as shipped or is additional hardware required. It
- has been mentioned that 15khz vsync is required to support all video modes.
- Will Workbench 3.0 support 48khz (640x480 to 1024x768) ?
-
- I am also curious what the educational discount rate is. Anyonce purchase
- a system recently under this?
-
- Thanks for the info.
