  11. I have an A3000, 4MB, ARM3, RISC OS 3.1, HCCS 8-bit internal SCSI
  12. controller (version 2) and a Quantum LPS 105 hard disc.
  13. (Despite some postings I read my HCCS controller runs fine under RO3.1.)

  15. Some days ago I save a file (from DeskEdit) which was about 1.03MB in size.
  16. During the save operation I got an error message (internal fatal error in
  17. DeskEdit) and afterwards a 'FileCore in use' error.

  19. I switched the computer off and on again and tried again. I one more time
  20. put the file together (the file was obtained by putting together some other
  21. files) and saved it to a different directory.
  22. * And exactly the same happened !! *

  24. The only difference was that in the first case, there already was a file
  25. with the same name on the disc, so the file was overwritten. In the second
  26. case the directory was empty.

  28. The result is that I now have a 1.03MB file on my harddisc that crashes the
  29. system when it is accessed (i.e. if you try to open or delete it !!). It was
  30. the file that was not properly overwritten (when the first error occured).
  31. *Checkmap reports a good map.
  32. However, the space (1.03 MB) is taken up by the file and I would like to free
  33. it. You may rename the file but not open or delete it.
