  18. YES. They're the biggest load of crooks in the Acorn world, in my
  19. opinion. I have personally never had the displeasure to try and buy
  20. anything from them, but I do know how much hassle they have caused to
  21. several people. Try asking about their PC card - ho ho. Go through one
  22. of their adverts with a Berol Highlighter and mark all the false
  23. statements. Admire their clear indication that the prices are
  24. excluding VAT.

  26. Even better, look at their advertising in PC magazines - if anything,
  27. it's even worse.

  29. One also hears that they and 4th Dimension are the two big offenders
  30. in the advertising blackmail game. i.e. a magazine puts out a review
  31. of one of their products that they don't like, and the company
  32. threatens to stop placing their regular <n>-page mega-advert. Acorn
  33. User now resorts to guarded statements like "although the Watford
  34. Electronics ARM3 upgrade is cheaper, most people with experience of
  35. buying from the two companies will automatically prefer one or the
  36. other" (from memory, so not quite right) when comparing Aleph-1 and
  37. Watford ARM3 upgrades.

  39. Oh, it was also a Watford Electronics salesman, working freelance, who
  40. screwed me out of my royalties on the music for a certain video game.
  41. I eventually figured that it was easier to earn the money again than
  42. to recover it in the small claims court, but I do sometimes regret not
  43. getting the <expletive-deleted>. The guy was working as my agent - I
  44. was younger then. I-8
