- I've just uploaded a new application to the Manchester ftp server
- (uts.mcc.ac.uk) called Mini Hound. It's the baby brother application
- of Word Hound which has been available from there (as well as Hensa)
- for some time now.
-
- Mini Hound is a very much cut down version which will fit onto, and
- run from, a single 800k disc. It offers thesaurus data only (no
- dictionary) and the thesaurus which comes with it is a cut down
- version of that supplied with Word Hound. There are also some minor
- changes between the the two application themselves (due to the lack of
- dictionary, etc.). Unlike Word Hound, Mini Hound's data files can not
- be altered by the user.
-
- Dispite being a cut down thesaurus (it only offers alternative words,
- no phrases or multi-word alternatives) it still offers over 30,000
- keywords (almost as many as Word Hound) (compaired with about 18,000
- for RD's Desktop Thesaurus).
-
- Mini Hound is covered by the same user licence as Word Hound, thus
- registered Word Hound users are automatically registered for Mini
- Hound, and vice versa. (Not that there is any real use for having
- both).
