- To all users of the GNUPLOT Data and Function Plotting package:
-
- I've written a patch for GNUPLOT3.2 which
- incorporates a nonlinear least squares fit mechanism into GNUPLOT. The
- fit uses the Marquardt-Levenberg-algorithm for fitting and the GNUPLOT
- function evaluation mechanism for calculation. Thus it remains relatively
- small. It offers all advantages of fitting every rather complex-formulated
- function you can create with GNUPLOT (including complex calculation).
- It has been developped and tested on an MSDOS-PC, compiled with MS-C 6.0.
-
- However I think it would be useful to get a really portable version out
- of it. It is written so that this should be no big problem. On UNIX
- systems there exist already Packages which allow fitting via external
- calls of GNUPLOT. However just on small systems I think an integrated
- solution would be more convenient especially for small computer systems
- like MSDOS, MS-Windows, Atari ST or Amiga. As far as I remember there
- are GNUPLOT ports for each of these systems.
-
- If you are willing to become a BETA tester please note the following:
- The package has been intensely tested under MSDOS. THere have been _NO_
- tests at all on other systems, even no compilation. You should therefore
- be familiar enough with your operating system to do patches needed for
- compilation. And you should have the time to do it soon!
-
- Please mail me your address and I will mail you an uuencoded version
- of the GNUFIT package. For MSDOS there is also an executable available,
- a Copro is strongly recommended but not necessary.
