- I'm looking for tools, data management packages, reports, etc. (information
- in general) which can help with the following problem:
-
- We are developing a database (small d, small b) which is comprised of
- two kinds of data. The first is quite amenable to storage using one of
- the common relational products (we're using ORACLE). The second is
- formatted text and graphics (word processor files, VuGraph presentations,
- and other things of that sort).
-
- An inquiry into the database may require access to both kinds of data in
- order to produce a complete (from the user's perspective) response.
- AND the user shouldn't have to worry too much about the structure of
- the data.
-
- Question: What's the best way to seamlessly integrate these kinds of data?
- Also, is anyone aware of an effecient method or tool for doing text searches
- in long text fields in a SQL database?
-
- This is pretty specific to our situation, so e-mail is probably the best
- method for reply. If there's a lot of interest, I'll post the results.
-
- Thanks for any help.
