  12. I'm looking for tools, data management packages, reports, etc. (information
  13. in general) which can help with the following problem:

  15. We are developing a database (small d, small b) which is comprised of 
  16. two kinds of data.  The first is quite amenable to storage using one of
  17. the common relational products (we're using ORACLE).  The second is 
  18. formatted text and graphics (word processor files, VuGraph presentations,
  19. and other things of that sort).
  20.  
  21. An inquiry into the database may require access to both kinds of data in
  22. order to produce a complete (from the user's perspective) response.
  23. AND the user shouldn't have to worry too much about the structure of
  24. the data.
  25.  
  26. Question:  What's the best way to seamlessly integrate these kinds of data?
  27. Also, is anyone aware of an effecient method or tool for doing text searches
  28. in long text fields in a SQL database?
  29.  
  30. This is pretty specific to our situation, so e-mail is probably the best
  31. method for reply.  If there's a lot of interest, I'll post the results.
