  11. Recently, it was announced here that it is possible to anonymously ftp
  12. Merge Ahead demo software (the tool for merging text or code) from netcom.com.
  13. Unfortunately, due to bad karma or something, the ftp disk the netcom
  14. service uses became corrupt, preventing ftp access to our directories.
  15. As of this time, our directories have not been restored, and so are
  16. still unavailable. I've been receiving many calls from co.sw-e readers who have
  17. been unsuccessful in accessing this directory, hence this notice of
  18. outage here.  I will post a followup here when service has been
  19. restored.

  21. We reported the problem to the network service provider we use,
  22. netcom, yesterday and we continue to work with them in hopes of
  23. speedy restoration of service. At this time we have no ETA from netcom
  24. to restoration. Netcom is currently our sole provider of anonymous
  25. ftp, so until the are fixed, or we can secure a second provider
  26. willing to provide us with an ftpable directory, on line demo
  27. availability by ftp will be limited.  Offers of alternative locations
  28. for making this software available are welcome.
