  37. THE CONFERENCE
  38. Recent advances in Software Engineering suggest that sound technical
  39. solutions for achieving quality in software are available and all the
  40. software developer need do is use these to achieve the quality needed.
  41. However, the take-up of these quality techniques has been somewhat slow and
  42. where it has happened, the techniques themselves have been rather slow in
  43. producing their anticipated effects, if any effect at all is observed
  44. (apart from an increase in development costs).  There must be reasons for
  45. this.
  46. AQuIS 93 intends to further the efforts of AQuIS 91 in emphasising the
  47. source of this problem: technology transfer. 
  48. Further, ascertaining the quality of software under development is still
  49. less than easy, as is proposing truely pragmatic approaches to attaining
  50. quality. 
  51. What better a challenge than to make a contribution to this area and
  52. compare solutions?

  54. TOPICS
  55. Submissions are invited in the following areas:
  56.  
  57. -    Technology transfer techniques aimed at reducing the resistance to
  58. quality practice.
  59. -    Quantitative evaluation of quality attributes.
  60. -    Models of development processes and environments, embodying the quality
  61. dimension.
  62. -     Software process improvement.
  63. -    The management, inspection, testing, maintenance and reuse of quality
  64. software processes and products.
  65. -    Software development: formal methods, tools/environments.
  66. -    Prediction techniques (quality, cost, resource requirements etc.)..
  67. -    Risk management.
  68. -    Total quality approaches.
  69. -    Quality standards/legislation.
  70. The emphasis of the conference is on documenting, based on proper
  71. measurement, which techniques (for achieving, predicting, validating
  72. quality) work and which do not work. Significant, real case study  reports
  73. showing that quality is being achieved and why, as well as studies which
  74. show that it is not and why, are particularly welcome.

  76. INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS
  77. Four copies (in English) of original work, limited to 12 pages (5000
  78. words), must reach the Conference Secretariat before May 1, 1993.
  79. Papers must include a short abstract and a list of keywords, the author's
  80. address, phone number, e-mail address and telefax.
  81.  
  82. All papers received will be refereed by the International Program
  83. Committee, and each paper will be rewieved by at least three independent
  84. referees. Final accepted papers will be published in the Conference
  85. Proceedings.
  86. Best papers will be selected for publication in a special issue of "The
  87. Journal of Systems and Software", Elsevier Science Publishing Co., New York
