- The origin of this thread came from someone who wanted to use a PC
- platform for real-time work. If you want to use the platform, but
- not DOS or Windows, Intel just announced "iRMX for PCs" -- a version
- of iRMX that runs without DOS on a PC platform. Unlike iRMX for
- Windows, you don't boot DOS first, you just boot iRMX from a partition
- on the hard drive. The partition can be formatted as either a native-
- mode iRMX file system or as a DOS-formatted partition, and the OS
- adjusts accordingly. All the networking features available in iRMXIII
- are available, but those parts of iRMX for Windows that dealt with DOS
- or Windows are gone. Contact Intel if you need more info; I've just
- said all I know about it.
