- I need help understanding to what extent I can map a UNIX file
- system to a VM/CMS system using NFS.
-
- I have an application where I need to map the UNIX news hierarchy,
- starting at /usr/spool/news, to a VM/CMS minidisk. The problem is
- that VM/CMS has a flat file system that doesn't understand
- subdirectories.
-
- Two questions: 1) does the standard IBM TCP product for VM include
- an NFS client? 2) can anyone think of an effective workaround for
- the problem I am describing? I suppose we could read in the news
- system's active file, and then proceed to mount each news
- subdirectory sequentially for processing. Since there are hundreds
- of subdirectories involved, it seems like this would be a slow
- process. Are there other concerns with this approach, or are there
- better solutions?
