- I am trying to recompile CAP on our new SGI's running Irix 4.0.5F. Currently
- we are running from our older Sun and had no problems configuring under BSD.
- Alas, Irix is SYSV and I am running into problems. We are only using the CAP
- system to allow printing to a LaserWriter via a Kinetics FP4 to localtalk.
-
- On the SGI, I was able to make the entire system (using the -cckr flag to
- avoid warnings). I am using CAP 6.0 pl 126.
-
- Now the problems. If I run 'atis -D 3' as root, the from another shell
- execute 'atistest' I get the following
-
- # ./atis -D 3
- abInit: [ddp: 55.81, 2] starting
- 17:27:59 01/26/93 Reply num max for lkup reply is 5 (based on 104)
- 17:27:59 01/26/93 ECHO: ECHO socket not available: error -1: Address
- already in use /* wrapped for your reading pleasure */
- 17:27:59 01/26/93 pid = 20971

-
- I believe the problem lies in the ECHO error, but I am not sure what it is
- trying to do (thus my plea to the net gods :-)
-
- Anyone have any Ideas?
-
- On an second point, has anyone any suggestions or hints on configuring pap*
- for use with the Irix 'lp'. I have not looked into this myself yet as we have
- had everything running via BSD lpr. (but perhaps to go through the Transcript
- package and lp ... I hope :-}
