  14. i've got an NEC silentwriter model 95, which does both postscript 
  15. level 2 and pcl 5 (laserjet 3).  it comes with an autoswitching driver
  16. for dos/windows, but nothing for os2.  i called NEC and got the codes
  17. that are required for mode switching, and have been playing around with
  18. writing an "lpr" program that will autoswitch, but that only works for
  19. files that i've already got on disk.

  21. so my question is:  is it possible to write a program that could be
  22. attached say, to the laserjet 3 driver, which would intercept any job
  23. sent to the laserjet 3, then send the codes to switch to laserjet 3
  24. mode, wait about 15 seconds (for the printer to complete the mode
  25. switch), then print the file(s), and finally switch back to postscript
  26. mode?  this would be very convenient, and i would imagine there are
  27. others who could benefit from such a program....
