- I recently bought the 2.1b CD and the November PDK CD, with TCP/IP beta.
- I installed both, but have removed TCP/IP as it had a rather annoying
- habit of crashing my machine. This was unpredictable, but didn't seem
- to correlate with my doing anything unusual - it might occur after merely
- using telnet once.
-
- Sometimes I'd get some warning that things were wrong - no keyboard response,
- but the mouse would still work; all 3 indicator lights coming on for no
- reason, and pressing NUMLOCK causing the CAPSLOCK and SCROLL LOCK lights
- to go off, but not affecting the NUMLOCK light, etc. If I pressed CAD at that
- point, all was OK. However, if I didn't press this (and sometimes there was
- no warning) the machine locked solid. The mpouse cursor didn't move,
- pressing any keys had no effect at all, and the only solution was to switch
- off and back on.
-
- Has anyone else noticed this? It looks like a great package, worth buying,
- but ONLY if it doesn't kill the OS. For now, I'm back to single session
- DOS programs in a window...
