  11. One funny (?) remark. Within IBM there are tons of 8514-cards, so IBMers
  12. were asking for seemless 8514 drivers internally. Only, after it became
  13. clear that there are tons of 8514-compatible-cards outside IBM did they
  14. realize that it was necessary to write a seemless driver.

  16. Explanation: The 8514 was the forerunner of the XGA, simply put 8514 was
  17. an intermediate step. The XGA being out on the market for quite a while
  18. and seeing others going mainly the Tseng-route, they thought 8514 was not
  19. that important.
