- I installed 2.1b over my 2.0+sp system last night. Everything looked fine
- until I went to try a Windows program (Excel). I did the program migration
- as previous posters had recommended. Anyhow, whenever I double clicked on
- the Excel icon, the hard disk would be briefly hit, and within 5 seconds or
- so, control would be returned to me. Excel never launched. I tried other
- icons, like the Program Manager, and had the same result. Vaguely recalling
- some mention of the need to Selective Install WIN-OS2 if installing over
- an existing system, I proceeded to do that. All went well, until the scan
- of the 19 disk were complete, whereupon it prompted me for both display disk
- one and two (only one was asked for during the initial 2.1b install). After
- rebooting, my screen was having serious syncronization problems. No Windows
- apps would run either. I used DSPINSTL and noted that on the second pass,
- 2.1b recognised that I had an ATI card (its very old, a 512K original). I
- changed back to standard SVGA mode. After the third reboot, my screen was
- once again behaving, and WIN-OS2 Icons now launched!
-
- One little itty bitty problem remains... (I wish!) Whenever I now exit from
- a WIN-OS2 application (like Excel, or the Program Manager), my system hangs.
- The mouse still functions, but the keyboard is dead, and background task
- stop (I run a BBS in background, and it hung my caller as well). This is
- rather unfortunetly repeatable. Any and all suggestions welcome.
