- Is their an official email address to send bug reports to with the
- 2.1beta - I'm not looking for any support or workrounds etc, just that
- I'd like to think I was being a useful beta-tester.
-
- So far in a short play with 2.1b I've only found 3 problems, which having
- read the README file are probably known problems.
-
- 1) AmiPro starts its help utility behind the main window ==> you need to
- manually bring it back to the front - README mentions a similar problem
- with starting apps from the program manager.
-
- 2) Start windows apps minimized doen't work - switches app type to DOS
- which then fails. This looks like the problem described in the REAME
- file.
-
- 3) I ran AmiPro seamlessly, it comes up maximized so I pressed button
- to shrink it's size, then after doing somethings I minimized it. This
- sort of worked, but a couple of areas were left blanked out on the
- desktop which still acted as WINOS regions (I think these areas matched
- the shape of the menus that pop up from AmiPros bottom bar buttons) -
- i.e. I got the windows pointer when I moved the cursor into these
- regions. I could bring AmiPro back from the minimized window directory
- and all was then fine again. I have not been able to reproduce this.
- However, it looks as if in something in WINOS isn't always releasing
- the areas of the desktop that it claims when an app gets minimized.
-
- Another problem, which I think is probably my misunderstanding how
- WPS works, is that if I associate *.SAM with AmiPro then I edit
- such a document by double clicking on the file icon. If I then minimize
- AmiPro I have to double click on the AmiPro icon to bring it back. Double
- clicking on the file icon doesn't work. This seems counter intuitive
- (as the intuition is that I have opened the file and then minimized the
- open file, hence I should be able to re-open the opened file by
- double clicking on it) or am I expecting too much from WPS (and is
- the fact that I'm using a WINOS2 app relevant).
-
- Other than that 2.1b feels a lot snappier than 2.0GA+SP and AmiPro seems
- to work seamlessly much better than in 2.0SP where minimizing it caused
- all sorts of problems.
-
- Finally, I installed by reformatting the drive (having carefully saved
- all Amipro .INI files which get stuck on the system disk :-). I tried
- using WPSBKUP/WPSREST but this didn't seem totally successful so I
- recovered the original 2.1 setup and recustomized the desktop. For the
- proper 2.1 release it is vital that you can pull over a previous 2.0
- setup into 2.1 (including preserving any trash that windows programs
- etc deposit on the system disk) - I didn't try installing over 2.0 as
- my system partition is very tight for space so this may not have
- worked.
