  12. well, I have it on good authority that IBM will be getting out of the mainframe
  13. business in the next few quarters (eg: diving off a sinking ship might just be
  14. the first signs of a plan for survival).  No, I do not know any far up
  15. IBM insiders, I simply listened to what cuts IBM had announced over the last year.
  16.   It is not hard to figure out what is and is not profitable for them.

  18.    There was some mention of them closing the plants in Fishkill and Poughkeepsie NY
  19. (right near my old home town of Yorktown, which is where IBM research is) which
  20. make various chips...  I hope the IBM will not be getting out of the workstation or
  21.  PC areas.  I have a PS Valuepoint 433 and I love it, and I hear the the RS
  22. 6000 is a nice machine to do heavy number crunching on...
