- After a cold start, I can make partitions with FDISK. Fine.
- Then I want to format the new drive. Sometimes this process crashes the whole
- maschine (The LED on the Adaptec controller then stays on). If I make
- a warm boot, the SCSI drive will not be recognized. I have to shut the power
- off, boot OS/2 which after CHKDSK just hangs, then I do a second warm boot.
- This time I will get to WPS back with all the SCSI Drives present.
- Once I was able to format an SCSI Partition to FAT. I then copied the
- README file to the drive. Using the TYPE command with the file
- in an OS/2 Window worked, but clicking on the file to start the E editor
- didn't. Only the Watch cursor appeared and the controller LED stayed
- on for ever.
- What's wrong here ?
- My system: Symphony motherboard 486DX-50, 16MB
- 200 MB Seagate IDE
- 520 MB Fujitsu with Adaptec 1542b
-
- By the way: All works fine with Linux, so I guess its not a hardware problem.
-
- Hoping desparately for a hint !
