  16.     SIO034.ZIP contains the SIO034 beta drivers.  These drivers
  17.     replace the COM.SYS and VCOM.SYS that you currently have
  18.     loaded.  From what I recall in the documentation accompanying
  19.     the drivers, the author did not include comm code that most
  20.     people don't need and that hampers the COM/VCOM drivers
  21.     performance.  Also, DOS programs see a virtualized 16550
  22.     (assuming you have one on your system).

  24.     OS2SPEED.ZIP cotains a TSR that makes DOS programs that are
  25.     Deskview aware,  "OS/2 aware."  This results in a DOS program
  26.     not eatting up tons of CPU time doing things like polling the
  27.     keyboard for input.

  29.     Both are at "ftp-os2.nmsu.edu".  I assume the SIO034 drivers
  30.     have been moved out of "uploads" by now and reside in
  31.     "drivers" or "new".  Check under "/pub/os2/2.0/".  Use the
  32.     index file if you have problems finding either of the
  33.     programs.
