-
- Yes, I had had such a problem. The installation did erase it.

- If you have only three COM ports, OS/2 will call the last one COM3 even if
- you configure it as COM4. COM3 for OS/2 is only a logical name, but under
- DOS and the traditional PC hardware scheme, it's a physical name.

-
- On an ISA AT-compatibale machine, IRQ2 is mapped to IRQ9, because IRQ2 is
- just the cascade interrupt controller for IRQs 8-15. (The oldest PC/8088
- had only IRQs 0-7.) Have you tried set it up as IRQ9 in your CONFIG.SYS?
- That is, set the jump on the I/O card to IRQ2, which should usually be what
- the manual for the card says, but in the CONFIG.SYS, put in (3,2E8,9) instead
- of (3,2E8,2). BTW, I never tried. It's just my guess.
-
- >current COM/VCOM lines are (3,2E8,5). But, it seems to work fine.
-
- My current settings are the same as yours. When I did it, I was not aware of
- the mapping, and I don't have an LPT2 port (requiring IRQ5) bothering me.
