- The CTRL-ALT-NUMLOCK always worked for me under GA and GA+SP. Under
- 2.1b it locks the system, and when I say lock I really mean LOCK.
- It actually managed to lock up my machine so badly, that even the
- RESET button didnt work. I actually had to cut the power to make it
- reboot.
- And while we're at it, whats this CTRL+ESC thing. When WPS
- screws up, pressing CTRL+ESC brings up a nice window saying something
- like "APP X is not responding to system events, press enter to terminate.
- Data will not be saved". Well I press enter, and about half a minute later,
- the same box pops up again, but the app is never terminated.
- This also happens occasionally, when eveything seems to be fine, but
- some app locks up itself. Then sometimes its totally impossible to terminate
- the app - terminating it from the window list doesn't work, killem doesnt
- work etc. It seems to me, that there must be a MAJOR bug somewhere in
- the 2.1b, which sometimes makes it impossible to terminate a process. And
- this is really a MAJOR bug, since an OS should ALWAYS be capable of terminating
- a process no matter how badly screwed up this process might be.
- This should certainly be fixed before even thinking about incorporating
- a hot-key to terminate a locked up process, since such a hot key will not
- be of much help, if the OS can't terminate the process. Given that, such
- a hot-key would really be a nice thing.
