The problem is as follows, after deleting OS2 2.0 completely from disk but
leaving DOS with all the DOS programs on disk I compressed the disk with
norton speedisk and cleared all the free space. So making sure all traces
of OS2 2.0 are removed. Then I installed the OS2 2.1 beta. This is going
fine up to the point of migration. In the migrate menu during installation
two hard disks appear, drive C: and D:. I have only got one and not
partitioned.
Selecting drive C: and migrating all necessary programs the OS2 installation
continues. When the complete OS2 2.1b is installed and running I chose the
DOS full screen icon switching to DOS. Also here I have drive C: and D:.
Trying to run a program in the DOS session gives me an SYS0005 access is
denied warning. The same for the D: drive. Running chkdsk in the DOS session
gives an giant list with the following warnings :
"DOS program name" attempted to claim an extended attribute that does not
exist.
and
SYS1324 "DOS program name" is cross linked on extended attribute #
Chkdsk on the OS2 command line gives the same warnings.
Clicking the drives icon, I see four drives A:, B:, C: and D:. Trying to
open drive C: or drive D: gives error warning SYS0278 The system cannot
find the extended attribute.
Using dual boot and going back to DOS, chkdsk gives no warnings or errors
I tried the set diskettes on a other almost identical machine and it works fine.OS2, windows 3.1 and even the high resolution graphics modes are running
without any problems.
The system on which the OS2 2.1b is installed has the following configuration
