- Let me elaborate a bit. The driver for PCL5 printers comes in a
- separate file from the other PCL printers, and it seems to be broken.
- None of the printers covered by this driver file will work correctly
- with winos2 in os/2 2.1 beta. This includes the HP LJIII, IIIP, IIID,
- and IIISi. Note the postscript modes of these printers (if you have a
- postscript cartridge or simm) and the LJIV work ok, since the
- postscript mode uses a different driver and the LJIV uses its own
- driver (available from HP or from windows ftp sites).
-
- The LJIIP is the closest to PCL5 among the PCL4 printers, so that's
- why it's recommended. You won't get scalable fonts and some other
- fonts/features, but you'll get most (all?) of the data compression
- built into PCL5, which makes for faster printing.
