- I just purchased an IBM external CD ROM from NCA Peripherals in San Jose, CA.
- They have them on sale right now for $299. They're not real fancy or
- anything, just cheap, and guaranteed to work with OS/2 if you have a SCSI
- controller with OS/2 drivers (such as the Adaptec series or Future Domain).
-
- I just installed the drivers, plugged in the CD ROM, and rebooted and it
- worked the first time. The IBM CD Rom does not need a PS/2 either. It's
- just a standard SCSI device.
-
- The drive claims 380ms random seek, but the Corel SCSI benchmark says it's
- more like 250ms. The data transfer rate is 150k/sec.
