  20. I've been exploring this fax thing (some in our dept have the idea that
  21. money can be saved by getting our fax machine to talk to our OS/2 machine
  22. and then use internet mail).

  24. I did notice an interesting upload announcement from Gary Hennigan concerning
  25. a front-end for ghostscript which sends faxes. Note also that the OS/2
  26. 2.1 beta includes some fax software (1 page only (?)). Here's some of
  27. Hennigan's readme. This file is on ftp-os2.nmsu.edu in pub/os2/2.0/comm/.

  29. Note carefully that I have not tested this package, and the modem is not
  30. the same as the one you've listed.

  32. You've chosen to try PSFax/2, a program written by Gary Hennigan, to send
  33. postscript files as faxes. PSFax/2 relies on the GNU utility Ghostscript to
  34. perform a MAJOR portion of it's work, converting the postscript files to
  35. Group 3 fax files. I'm distributing the executable for Ghostscript along
  36. with the support files necessary for running it because I did have some
  37. trouble compiling it. Be aware that this compiled version ONLY has support
  38. for two devices, dfaxhigh and dfaxlow. This means that it will NOT display
  39. postscript on your screen. If you want to take a crack at compiling
  40. GhostScript yourself you can get the source on the same machine and in the
  41. same directory where the extra fonts can be found, as mentioned previously.
