  11. There have been a couple of posts referring to the existance of
  12. beta drivers for the Intel EtherExpress card.  I haven't seen an
  13. answer, so I called Intel in Beaverton.  They do indeed have a 
  14. driver for NT.  They don't however support it.  They will take 
  15. (and appreciate) bug reports, but it is not a product.

  17. Here is the scoop:

  19. The Intel BBS (503)645-6275 8-none-1:
  20. Download files;Network Products;Adapters & Hubs; EtherExpress;
  21. Interim...; filename EE16NT.EXE.
  22.  
  23. There is no supporting documentation with the kit, so you are on
  24. your own to install it.  I did the following:
  25.  
  26. Virus scan the .exe with McAfee SCAN (clean)
  27. Run the EXE under DOS (i.e. DOS 5.0 not NT Console; didn't try console)
  28. Boot NT and use control panel for Networks
  29.     Install Adapter
  30.     Install Windows WOrkstation
  31.     Install Windows Server
  32.     Install NETBIOS
  33.     Install NetBEUI
  34. Reboot when prompted
  35. Notice that the network isn't working
  36. Go to control panel for Services
  37. Try to start Windows Workstation
  38. Notice file not found error
  39. Uninstall and reinstall a couple of times
  40. Notice same error
  41. Remember had this problem before trying to go from no network
  42.     to network
  43. Reinstall NT from CD
  44.     When network prompt comes up, install adapter from directory
  45.         which had EE16NT expanded.
  46.     Notice error message saying EE16.SYS not found; cannot connect
  47.         to domain at this time
  48. Reboot when requested
  49. Boot into DOS
  50. Copy EE16.SYS to winnt\system\drivers
  51. Reboot into NT
  52. Notice sparkler exists in File Manager, map a remote Wi4Wkg drive
  53. Retire to sleep as it is really late now.
