- Hello and greetings from Ames IA
-
- I have a slight problem getting a shareware game to run as well using windows
- as it does in DOS. Note I am not trying to run a DOS app windowed. I am just
- using the GUI to execute it.
-
- System: Windows 3.1 Enhanced Mode 386DX-33
-
- Application: Scorched Earth Ver 1.23, a slightly additive lob that artillery
- game. Runs fine from DOS. Ver 1.1 I had no problem with running from windows.
-
- Symptoms: Slight visual display differences, ie slight screen flicker, graphics
- are not as nice, game runs slower, and the game will take over for human
- players (just continuous shooting).
-
- Solutions I have tried: Running foreground exclusive, increasing the amount of
- processor time to 10000 ie exclusive(i guess), locking XMS and EMS, retaining
- video memory. Just about everything you can do with a PIF that I know.
-
- A solution I have found is to execute another DOS shell (command.com) then run
- scorched earth and all is fine, but this is a round about solution when using
- windows IMO.
-
- Anyone have a solution to this problem? If so, Please post it or Email to me.
