- OK guys and gals! They are ready!! As of 12:30 pm PST, the newest version
- of the 24X drivers are available at wuarchive.wustl.edu in the directory
- pub/MSDOS_UPLOADS/windows.
-
- Now to answer some questions I received:
-
- 1) this file is the original that I dowloaded from America OnLine out of
- the Diamond Customer Support area. They were posted there yesterday
- (Thur, Jan 21). This version is called 2.03 - it looks like they only
- fixed three of the drivers. At least that's how many had 1993 dates on
- them...
-
- 2) things that now work: I tested the following briefly-- Word for WIndows
- tools/options works fine. Microsoft Works for Windows works fine.
- PC Magazine's WinBench 3.1 works without giving those irritating
- horizontal lines (but I cannot give you my winmark score :-) Procomm plus
- for Windows didn't have big problems, but the occasional messed up pixels
- haven't shown up yet.
-
- 3) speed seems to be fine. I don't remember what my rating was on the
- old ones, but I get 7.4M (on the old WinBench) at 800x600x256 on a
- 386-25. I don't think they are any slower, maybe even faster...
-
- ...I just checked and the three files with 1993 dates are: wsp48024.drv,
- wspdpbf.drv, and wspdpsf.drv.
-
- All of the above mentioned testing was done at 800x600x256
-
- Good Luck!
