  11. I thought I could fiddle around until something worked for me, but nothing
  12. works.  I can't bring up the X server.  Here is the output from startx:

  26. Somebody else asked about the "no SIOCGIFCONF" error message, but I couldn't
  27. find a response.  The symptoms are: the screen blanks (goes into graphics
  28. mode of some kind) and then X dies.  The text-mode screen never returns, and
  29. I have to reboot to get it back (since X doesn't run, C-Alt-BkSp doesn't help).

  31. Hardware (if it matters):  486DX/33, 8MB RAM, 16MB swap
  32. Trident TVGA8900c video card with 1MB ram,
  33. Non-multisync monitor (800x600 non-interlace, 1024x768 interlace).

  35. One readme file suggested I should run "startx.notcp", but SLS doesn't appear
  36. to have it (.99p2).
