  14.     How about this. BOTH! Have a table that explicitly assigns a
  15. ID/LUN to a minor num, and anything that's not covered gets added as
  16. before. ie it scans as before and checks to see if the combo is an assigned
  17. location or not. If so, fine. If not give it the next available minor number.
  18. You could even reserve the first n minors for future use, and start at n+1.
  19. As someone said, there really arn't going to be that many disks/controllers
  20. on the system.
