  10. What is a "Segmentation fault (core dumped)"? I would appreciate any hints
  11. anyone can give me. When I run xinit, all I get is that error message, a
  12. core file, and the UNIX prompt. The core file says:

  14.     warning no client init file
  15.     warning no server init file
  16.     Server error
  17.     Client error
  18.     Xserver to begin accepting connections
  19.     giving up
  20.     wating for %s. no server %s in PATH
  21.  
  22. and a lot of other stuff. "X" is in my PATH, linked to "X386".

  24. My setup is: a Diamond Speedstar VGA board with a Tseng ET-4000AX
  25. chip and a MAG Computronics 1448 monitor. My system is a TriStar
  26. 386/33MHz. I know there's a FAQ item that says X doesn' work with
  27. Diamond, but other docs and postings say it does. I'm using Linux
  28. v0.97p2. I was hoping to avoid upgrading until v1.00 since it is
  29. difficult for me to download megabyte files.
