- What is a "Segmentation fault (core dumped)"? I would appreciate any hints
- anyone can give me. When I run xinit, all I get is that error message, a
- core file, and the UNIX prompt. The core file says:
-
- warning no client init file
- warning no server init file
- Server error
- Client error
- Xserver to begin accepting connections
- giving up
- wating for %s. no server %s in PATH
-
- and a lot of other stuff. "X" is in my PATH, linked to "X386".
-
- My setup is: a Diamond Speedstar VGA board with a Tseng ET-4000AX
- chip and a MAG Computronics 1448 monitor. My system is a TriStar
- 386/33MHz. I know there's a FAQ item that says X doesn' work with
- Diamond, but other docs and postings say it does. I'm using Linux
- v0.97p2. I was hoping to avoid upgrading until v1.00 since it is
- difficult for me to download megabyte files.
-
- I would appreciate any hints you can give.
