  17. WAMPES NOS (ucsd.edu:/pub/hamradio/tcpip/wampes/wampes-921129.tar.Z, or
  18. something along those lines) works under current Linux kernels, does SLIP,
  19. and even interfaces to a limited extent with kernel TCP/IP.  The
  20. documentation leaves something to be desired, but that's normal for
  21. KA9Q-based packages.  :-)

  23. The KA9Q .7 package should also work with the current kernel, as long as you
  24. don't try to attach an Ethernet card.  (Don't install the kernel patches,
  25. either.  If all you're doing is SLIP, there's no point in it.)  For SLIP it
  26. should be okay, if a bit daft (read: out of date).

  28. Kernel TCP/IP doesn't do SLIP.  There is a SLIP driver under development,
  29. but it's being kept under close wraps because too many people insisted on
  30. treating the pre-alpha driver as finished code and then wondering why their
  31. systems kept dying....
