  29. Ah, now I have a slightly different version of this...

  31. Running 0.96pl3 with a WD8031 on IRQ3; I can reliably get a freeze just by
  32. compiling the kernel. At that point I can type at the keyboard but can see
  33. nothing - I can't even switch VCs. I can then unfreeze the system by sending 
  34. a single packet (any sort of packet - maybe a ping) to the ethernet card, and
  35. the characters which I typed miraculously appear... Hmmm....

  39. I think I can also get this to happen on 0.99pl1 as well - but it didnt 
  40. happen when I used a WD8003 card on a different interupt. I shall grab one from 
  41. work this week end to see if it makes any difference.
