  24. This and several other quotes I recall but didn't save basically say "don't
  25. bother with any safety features, with Unix you're SUPPOSED to jump out of
  26. the plane without a parachute".  Which is the "hackers-only" attitude that
  27. is why (just as an example) all the Unix folks are running scared in the
  28. face of Windows NT, which I guarantee you will not have this problem.

  30. Moreover, quite frankly "Unix is semi-cryptic" is a flaw that should be
  31. fixed, that (I do hope!) is BEING fixed in the commercial Unixes, and that
  32. the Linux Doc Project is trying to fix for Linux.  It is not a law of nature,
  33. and it *certainly* is not a Good Thing.

  35. This is what I took exception to.  I do not argue the necessity of backups
  36. (in fact, I spend all too much of my time on the job arguing that with
  37. customers who think of it as a waste of time), and if you had stuck to that
  38. instead of throwing in the "hackers only, nyaah nyaah" sentiment I wouldn't
  39. have complained.
