  14.  sun os 4.1.2. sendmail.mx using berkeley m4 macro package to generate
  15.  sendmail.cf.

  17.  My mail host is functioning as a MX server for several systems. these
  18.  systems go on and off the net periodically. I thought that if sendmail
  19.  could resolve the hostname but not connect to the host it would
  20.  queue the message and deliver it later. but it does not queue. it returns
  21.  the message with the error "Service unavailable".
  22.  
  23.  I understand that the action taken is based on the exit status of the mailer.
  24.  that is if the mail returns a status that indicates the delivery could
  25.  be performed later then it queues. Else it returns the mail as underliverable.
  26.  
  27.  Question is, how to I set the error status of the mailer or the action
  28.  taken by sendmail.
  29.  
  30.  the mailer used is the tcpld in the m4 package for local final delivery.
