- Folks,
-
- After installing Ultrix 4.3 on my machines, I have found that
- sendmail no longer works like it did under Ultrix 3.1. In fact, it
- doesn't work for any version of Ultrix 4.2 or higher. Here's the
- relevant portion of our /etc/sendmail.cf:
-
- # The $w CLASS can be used to define "nicknames" for the local host.
- # These are alternate names that other systems may use to direct mail
- # to the local host. If this feature is used, the class should contain
- # the set of all names by which this host is known by. This feature
- # might normally be used when the local host name is revised but it is
- # not feasable to notify all other hosts of the new name.
- # Additionally, it may be that the local host is known by one name on
- # the internet and another name on additional networks to which this
- # host is connected.
- #
-
- Fw/etc/hostmx
-
- where /etc/hostmx is a file containing the name of the various
- machines which have mx records pointing to our mailer. Correct
- behavior is for the mailer to recognize that it is to accept mail for
- all the hosts listed in /etc/hostmx.
-
- Now under Ultrix 3.1 (Sendmail5.57/Ultrix2.4-C), this works fine.
- But with the sendmail 5.65/Ultrix3.0-C version it doesn't work. So, I
- grabbed a copy of the non-IDA sendmail sources from uunet and compiled
- them -- guess what! They don't work either. Anybody got a clue as to
- why they don't work?
