- | Is there a way to send mail to a user on Genie?
-
- Depends on the user; it's an extra-cost option for which a GEnie user must
- presubscribe.
-
- | How?
-
- If your friend on GEnie has paid to join the Internet email gateway, address
- mail to GEmailname@genie.geis.com; that's the email name, not the login ID.
- Current prices for the gateway (since 11/1/92) are $2 once to sign up and
- 30c per 5000 characters or fraction thereof for both incoming and outgoing
- letters. [For those of you hot to say that you read different rates, they
- may have been the original ones: $9.95 per *month*, 40c per 5000 characters
- in outgoing letters, no charge for incoming mail.]
-
- GEnie's reply command does not work (last I checked) on mail that arrived
- through the Internet gateway. A response must be hand-addressed to
- user@site.domain@inet# -- yes, that's two "@"'s and a "#". The "user@site.-
- domain" part must be thirty-two characters or shorter, but GEnie knows that
- that's a problem and it might be fixed some day.
-
- Mail addressed through the gateway to the valid GEmail name of a GEnie user
- who hasn't subscribed to the gateway (or who has quit it) will bounce.
