- [Note - I made a clumsy error posting this earlier. My apologies if it turns up
- more than once.]
-
- We are using VMS MAIL (VMS 5.5-2 on a VAX 6320).
-
- Several users send their MAIL messages, with the PRINT command, to the same
- printer. If they don't collect them within a day or two, it is not always
- possible to know who originated the print job - for instance, if the message
- comes from a mailing list, or was sent to more than one person.
-
- Is there a way of instructing PRINT to include brief user information at the
- top of each printed message - analogous to the /HEADER qualifier of the DCL
- PRINT command? All I need is the username, but date and time would be useful
- too.
-
- I tried PRINT/FLAG and PRINT/BURST, but it seems ridiculous to generate a
- superfluous page of gobbbledygook when a single line of information would do.
-
- Any ideas? (I KNOW that I could probably get away with just discarding print
- jobs that accumulate after a day or two, but I'd like to give my coworkers the
- benefit of the doubt.)
-
- Thanks in advance,
-
