- | wafe talks perl AND tcl. For that matter everything can talk WAFE.

- I have done some programming using Perl and wafe, and one of the annoying
- parts of it, IMHO, is that the interface to the widgets has to be done in
- tcl. If I want to do a widget specific call, I have to to do it in tcl. If
- you want to attach an action to a certain event, you have to do it in
- tcl. Of course you can make a workaround by having wafe echo a string to
- STDOUT which is picked up by Perl, which then does the processing, and
- sends back the finished result to wafe (through tcl commands). Indeed I have
- done this in my xwe editor so that you can write Perl actions. But I still
- wish I didn't have to touch tcl at all.
-
- I wish for a version of wafe which has perl as its engine instead of
- tcl. Perhaps that will be feasible with Perl 5.0.
