  21. The most recent draft of the High Performance Fortran Language
  22. Specification is version 1.0 Darft, dated January 25, 1993.  See
  23. "Version History" below for a description of the changes.

  25. How to Get the High Performance Fortran Language Specification

  28. There are three ways to get a copy of the draft:
  29.  
  30.     1. Anonymous FTP: The most recent draft is available on 
  31.        titan.cs.rice.edu in the directory public/HPFF/draft.
  32.        Several files are kept there, including compressed
  33.        Postscript files of previous versions of the draft.  The
  34.        most current version of this draft is 0.4, which can be
  35.        retrieved as a tar file containing LaTeX source
  36.        (hpf-v10.tar) or in Postscript format (hpf-v10.ps);
  37.        both of these are also available as compressed files.
  38.        Several other sites also have the draft available in one or
  39.            more formats, including think.com, ftp.gmd.de,
  40.        theory.tc.cornell.edu, and minerva.npac.syr.edu.

  42.     2. Electronic mail: The most recent draft is available from
  43.        the Softlib server at Rice University.  This can be
  44.        accessed in two ways:
  45.          A. Send electronic mail to softlib@cs.rice.edu with "send 
  46.         hpf-v10.ps" in the message body. The report is sent as a 
  47.         Postscript file.
  48.          B. Send electronic mail to softlib@cs.rice.edu with "send 
  49.         hpf-v10.tar.Z" in the message body. The report is
  50.         sent as a uuencodeded compressed tar file containing
  51.         LaTeX source.
  52.              C. Send electronic mail to netlib@ornl.gov with "send
  53.                 hpf-v10.ps from hpf" in the message body.  The report
  54.                 is sent as a Postscript file.  This site also has the
  55.                 LaTeX source of the draft; use "send index from hpf"
  56.                 to see the file names.
  57.              D. Send electronic mail to netlib@research.att.com with
  58.             "send hpf-v10.ps from hpff" in the message body.  The
  59.         report is sent as a Postscript file.
  60.        (In all cases, the reply is sent as several messages to
  61.        avoid mailer restrictions; edit the message bodies together
  62.        to obtain the whole file.)  The same files can be obtained
  63.        from David Loveman (loveman@mpsg.enet.dec.com) and Chuck
  64.        Koelbel (chk@cs.rice.edu), but replies will take longer
  65.        because real people have to answer the mail.

  80. A few caveats about the HPF draft:

  82.     A. The current version contains some material that is still
  83.        under active discussion.  Changes will be fairly frequent
  84.        until at least December 1992.  New versions will be
  85.            announced on the HPFF mailing list and in the newsgroups
  86.        comp.parallel, comp.lang.misc, and comp.lang.fortran.

  88.     B. The HPF Language Specification does not necessarily
  89.        represent the official view of any individual, company,
  90.        university, government, or other agency.
