  17. Someone a few months ago posted an announcement that to their
  18. great surprise, they managed to define a safe subset of C, so safe
  19. that it could even be garbage collected reliably.  I believe they
  20. had a technical report on the sublanguage available by anonymous FTP.
  21. Unfortubately, I don't know where they are located; perhaps you
  22. can find the post in the archives, wherever they may be.

  24. I vagualy remember they might be in California. The name Berkeley comes
  25. to mind.  Perhaps a phone call to computer science dept in Berkeley
  26. would yield some leads.
