- A recent (late 80's) study: "Communicating, or Just Making
- Pretty Shapes?", Colin Wheildon. It's a survey of how readable
- various fonts and layouts are in newspapers and magazines.

- The guy had the same problem as the originator of this thread,
- in that while there is lots of accepted wisdom, there isn't
- much hard evidence. He ended up having to do the research
- himself.

- Unfortunately it is put out by the Newspaper Advertisers of
- Australia, not exactly a well known global publisher. I'll
