- I am attempting to find out if the marching cubes alg. is patented.
- I have a client that would like to use it in a commerical piece.

- [ Moderator's Note: Yes, there is a software patent on the technique used in
- the original Marching Cubes paper. I am not sure who holds it. There are other
- isosurface routines that have similar results or are improvements on MC,
- but I don't have references handy. I will try with difficulty to restrain
- myself from commenting on the effectiveness and worth of software patents
