  10. BTW, what do you know about scanners?  I am looking to scan a large amount
  11. of data because I can't afford photocopy costs and there are other motives as
  12. well, but I was looking to scan a lot of data and hopefully convert it into
  13. some text/editable form.  What I don't want is to end up with massive 
  14. graphic files for each page.  What I want to know is the following:
  15.     How much is a scanner to buy/rent?  Amiga or 3/486 compat?
  16.     How good is character recognition software?  Is anything worthwhile
  17.         available free/shareware?  On the net?
  18.     How long does the software/hardware take to work?
  19.     Do you know anyone willing to rent/loan/sell the necessary gear?
  20.         Preferrably in that order...B->
  21.     Other considerations...?

  23.     I know htis seems to be coming out of the blue, but what can I say?
