  12. Could someone please provide references to articles that discuss
  13. the combinination of multiple 3-D views of an object.

  15. The problem is as follows:

  17. A laser rangefinder and colour sensor are being used to obtain
  18. a data set of X,Y,Z, and R,G,B values for an object.  2 or
  19. more data sets are recorded from different directions.  There is
  20. necessarily some overlap in the areas scanned.

  22. The idea is to combine the views to provide a complete digital
  23. representation of the object being scanned.  The overlapped areas
  24. would be used to position and 'lock' the different views together.

  26. I'm looking for any work that has been already done in this area.
