- I'm having a hard time believing there are no available platforms to
- read stereo video inputs into a computer. What I want seems so
- simple: I need to read in two channels of colour stereo video, add
- some relatively simple graphics, and output stereo NTSC outputs, and I
- need bit-access to the video images for ranging and calibration
- operations.
-
- In a perfect world, I would be able to do this in a portable way so I
- could move my software among a variety of platforms and handle a few
- years worth of software and hardware upgrades without complete
- rewrites. I would also be able to record my outputs as interlaced
- video images for use with shutter-glasses or output directly to
- helmet/goggle displays. A perfect world would also get me very close
- to broadcast quality output.
-
- Any recommendations? I am looking at SGI/VideoLab, and this offers a
- lot toward getting the video and graphics combined and reading from
- the video images, but a lot of CPU time is being consumed in splitting
- the single (interlaced) video inputs, and for such a partial solution,
- SGI carries a hefty price. Where are the other options?
